James & Olivia | Positano Wedding | Villa Oliviero
How did you guys meet?
As all modern love stories start, we met on an app! We didn’t chat for very long before we met up and had a very drunken first date. James fell asleep at his desk the day after.
Why did you want us to capture your wedding day? How do you think you’ll feel watching everything back in years to come?
Having photos and videos from the day are the only lasting thing of your wedding day (apart from the marriage!) so it was important for us to have someone we trusted capture it.
We loved the way your videos felt natural and captured the atmosphere of the day. It will be great watching it back in years to come and remembering all the details we’ve forgotten.
Tell me about the proposal – I love hearing these stories
I’d been for a work Christmas meal out and james asked me if I wanted to go for a walk (he checked to see if I was too drunk beforehand).
We went to a lake local to us and when I turned round he was on one knee. I don’t remember much after that as I was in total shock.
What do you guys do for a living? How do spend your free time?
James is an engineer and I work in marketing. Most of our free time is spent doing our second renovation (we’d barely finished our other one when we decided we wanted to move.
It’s sort of become a hobby now as it takes up a lot of our spare time). If we aren’t painting or sanding something then James is usually training for a triathlon and I’m out walking with the dog.
Why did you choose the wedding venue? What was special about it when you saw it for the first time?
We loved the amalfi coast when we visited the first time so I always knew I would love to get married there. The venue was perfect. It has an incredible view of Positano and feels very intimate.
I loved that you can have the whole thing outside and watch the sun go down over the town.
Tell me about the vision you had for your wedding. What experience did you wish to give your guests?
I wanted our guests to have the proper Italian experience with the lemon granita on arrival, traditional Neapolitan band and lots of delicious Italian food.
I also wanted the day to feel very personal and intimate which is why we had a smaller guest list of about 50. I just wanted everyone to have a good time with lots of drinks flowing and I think we achieved that!
Where do you see yourselves in 10 years time?
Neither of us are ones to think too far into the future. We’re both quite spontaneous and live for the here and now. Who knows where we’ll be in 10 years, hopefully not still renovating a house though!
