Malcolm & Zara / Cavalli Estate Wedding Video
How did you guys meet?
Zara’s best friend Shay moved in down the road from Malcolm when they were in high school. Thanks to Shay for always hosting socials!
Why did you want us to capture your wedding day? How do you think you’ll feel watching everything back in years to come?
We knew as soon as we saw Gustav’s previous wedding films that we wanted him to capture our special day. The way Gustav composes his films not only captures the flow of a wedding day beautifully, but also honours the individual couples and their stories. Having the film will help us remember the essence of our special day for all the years to come.
Tell me about the proposal – I love hearing these stories!
Whilst visiting Zara’s family in Cyprus for the Christmas holidays, Malcolm went to ‘play golf’ (buy the ring and plan the proposal) with the guys. Later that day, Zara’s family said that they were going up to the local viewpoint for sundowners so that her brother could take photos as it’s his part time hobby. Little did she know that the photos were actually going to be of Malcolm on one knee! A very easy ‘yes’.
What do you guys do for a living? How do spend your free time?
Malcolm works in health insurance, and Zara works as a research consultant but is also training as a yoga teacher. Malcolm is an ex-cricket player but now loves to play golf, and Zara loves to create art, mostly for friends and family but also the occasional commission. We love to host on the weekends, where you’ll usually find Malcolm at the braai!
Why did you choose the wedding venue? What was special about it when you saw it for the first time?
We fell in love with the views at Cavalli Estate years ago when we first visited for lunch, but we also really appreciated that the venue is bright and open, unlike some of the more traditional venues. We may have also been biased as there were many friendly staff from our home, Zimbabwe!
Tell me about the vision you have for your wedding. What experience do you wish to give your guests?
When planning our wedding, we wanted it to be classic and elegant but also very personalised to us. We added personalised touches by naming the tables places that are special to us, having a surprise marimba band, and Zara hand-painted name cards for each guest.
We wanted our guests to relax and enjoy the day, and feel the gratitude and love that we have for each of them for supporting us throughout our relationship. Denise at Warren-Stone weddings understood our vision from the get-go and brought it to life beautifully!
Where do you see yourselves in 10 years time?
We would love the next 10 years to follow on from the last 10, to continue supporting each other, growing together and nurturing our relationships with our family and friends. We would love to extend our families by becoming parents!
