Caitlyn & Kevin | Zorgvliet Wedding Video
How did you guys meet?
We met on an Afrikaans dating app called “Koer” in 2021. Our first ‘meeting’ was at Mugg and Bean in Paarl Mall and ended up chatting to each other for 3 hours.
Why did you want us to capture your wedding day? How do you think you’ll feel watching everything back in years to come?
Kevin and I spent days scrolling and searching Instagram for Cape Town videographers. We both had very specific criteria of how we want our wedding video to be- I wanted the voiceovers, and the beautiful cinematics, Kevin was focused on being able to capture those “small” moments between the couple, family and friends.
Then we came across your videos on instagram and we were immediately happy- you ticked all of the boxes. Your quality and creativity capture the essence of each couple’s unique story and day and it is evident that you have that keen eye for detail and talent for crafting beautiful and cinematic videos.
On top of that, the extra offerings you have, like the raw footage, the long video, the drone footage, etc, was a highlight because both Kevin and I want to get as much footage of our wedding day to look back on. After speaking to you, we were immediately very content and excited to have the opportunity to have you be the person to capture our big day.
We are most probably going to be filled with so much love and happiness. And I can tell you now, we WILL cry. We are very sentimental people so it means the world to us to have the opportunity to have someone like you to capture our big day.
Tell me about the proposal – I love hearing these stories
The 28th December 2022, we were planning to go visit my family in Jacobsbaai, after spending Christmas with Kevin’s family. The year before that, on the way to Jacobsbaai, we stopped at The Barn in Riebeek Kasteel to get something to eat and then decided to make it a tradition to go and eat there every December.
As we got into the car to go to Jacobsbaai, Kevin mentioned that he was hungry and I recommended that we go to The Barn to grab lunch and he was happy with it. On our way to Riebeek Kasteel, I asked him if we could maybe go to HetVlock Kasteel so that I can show him how it looks because my mom and I have been there multiple times to buy olives and olive oil, and Kevin and I always enjoy seeing new places.
As we got there I told him that I would want to show him the wedding venue and he agreed. He spoke to the manager and she showed us around. She started with the ceremony area, then took us to the reception area. I walked down the hallway with Kevin and the manager behind me and as I got to the end of the hallway, I saw a table filled with flowers, balloons and candles at the other side of the room, and IMMEDIATELY started to cry. Kevin held my hand and walked me to the table, and I saw the ring, in the box, in the middle of a heart formed out of tea-light candles.
He took the box, went down on one knee, and instead of saying the speech he prepared for me, all he could ask was, “Will you marry me?”. I cried, called him a “poephol” because before that day I kept on telling him that I would be able to tell when he is about to do it because I “know him very well”.. And then I said yes. Right after that, he told me that both of our families are waiting for us at The Barn to celebrate the engagement with us (I kept on telling him how I wanted to celebrate our engagement with both of our families).
Kevin’s parents are divorced and remarried, and my dad works in Zambia and visits us twice a year, so being able to have everyone together to celebrate our big day was very special.
What do you guys do for a living? How do spend your free time?
I am currently a Psychology student at SACAP in Cape Town. Kevin is an Architectural Technologist. And we spend a lot of time with friends and family.. We love to relax and watch a movie or a series or play playstation together. We are both very busy during the week, so whenever we have freetime we make sure to relax and spend time together.
Why did you choose the wedding venue? What was special about it when you saw it for the first time?
We chose Zorgvliet because of how beautiful it is. But also because of all the ‘boxes’ it ticked- it had a chapel on site, beautiful photo and video opportunities, and accommodation available.
When we went there for the first time, we were immediately welcomed and we were blown away by the beauty, we also immediately felt very content and that was a big thing for us because it isn’t a feeling we feel easily so whenever we feel that way, we listen to what our gut is telling us. Our families also IMMEDIATELY loved it.
Tell me about the vision you have for your wedding. What experience did you wish to give your guests?
We just want a relaxed day and to have fun. It is such a special day and don’t want to stress about the small things and just be in the moment.. We would love for our guests to have fun and to be comfortable and celebrate us and our love.
The guests are all either family or VERY close friends so having them there is a big deal to us and they know us very well and play such a major role in our lives so we want to spoil them and make sure they have a great time. We want the good food, the good music, good company, and unforgettable vibe 😂
Where do you see yourselves in 10 years time?
We definitely want children so we see ourselves with children or a child at that point. We don’t imagine ourselves to be in a specific location or in a specific house or anything- the focus is to be content with where we are at the moment in time (and constantly rewatching our wedding video)
