Adrian & Rachel | La Paris Wedding Video
How did you guys meet?
We met in August 2020. After chatting on Hinge about how much we love Japan and the culture, we exchanged numbers and not long after Rachel was the first one to suggest meeting for coffee at bootleggers.
Why did you want us to capture your wedding day? How do you think you’ll feel watching everything back in years to come?
We chose Gustav Franke because we loved how important nostalgia is for you. We had watched a few films and could see the care in the emotion of the day and we were confident that the quality would be good. We are both very excited to watch the films back for many years to come and to one day show our kids.
Tell me about the proposal – I love hearing these stories
4th June 2021, the week of Rachel’s Birthday (9th June), Adrian decided to take Rachel out for her birthday. Before they drove off, Adrian had “forgotten” his wallet, Rachel unaware remained waiting in the car.
A few moments later, she received a phone call with a panicked Adrian saying that their apartment had a serious leak. Rachel went upstairs and Adrian was holding handmade movie tickets to “Our Story”.
Upon entering their apartment with red carpet, candles and popcorn. Adrian began to play a movie he had stitched together of their journey as a couple. Rachel was still oblivious to what was about to happen as she thought it was for her birthday.
The song in the background was Sam Fenders – Getting Started (which was also our confetti song) , The last words on the screen were “We are just getting started!”. Adrian then got down on one knee and proposed, Rachel cried a lot and said “Obviously”.
They then eventually went out for dinner with her sister and friends to surprise them, as they also had no idea, they were both engaged.
What do you guys do for a living? How do spend your free time?
Rachel, as no surprise, captures weddings for a living. Adrian is a forensic senior associate at ENS Africa. During our free time we love playing tennis as well as watching movies and spending quality time with family and friends. We also love gaming!
Why did you choose the wedding venue? What was special about it when you saw it for the first time?
We chose La Paris Estate for a few reasons. One of the most important was that Rachel had never filmed a wedding there, so she couldn’t attached anyone else’s love story to her own.
We also loved the drive to Franschhoek for international guests and loved the spaciousness of the venue. It felt like each section of the wedding day could have it’s own moment.
Tell me about the vision you had for your wedding. What experience did you wish to give your guests?
Vision we both had for our wedding was elegant, classy and fun. We wanted our guests to feel like they were experiencing all the beauty of a traditional wedding but remember the fun parts too.
We wanted to make sure everyone felt entertained and that there were constantly things to experience and take part in. Having been separated for 7 days before the wedding really made it all the more emotional and special when we finally saw each other for the first time.
Where do you see yourselves in 10 years time?
Living in our forever home, still happily married with a dog and kids 😛 It is weird to think in 10 years time I will be 36…and Adrian will be 42 I can’t even plan 5 years ahead haha.
