How did you guys meet?
We met in Cape Town in 2012, via Jane’s ex boyfriend, who were friends (and still friends :). Jane comes from Durban originally, and moved to Cape Town in 2012. Per-Christian, who is Swiss and Norwegian, was working at sea at the time, on a 2.5 month rotation basis.
When we wasn’t working, he would spend his time in Cape Town, which he fell in love with after one of his trips, so much so, that he decided to buy an apartment there. They were friends for several years, until it turned unexpectedly romantic in 2016, when both of them were single.
Very quickly afterwards, Jane moved into PC’s apartment, they moved to London in late 2016, and one year later, they moved to Hamburg, Germany for PC’s work, where they have been ever since.
Why did you want us to capture your wedding day? How do you think you’ll feel watching everything back in years to come?
After viewing your work online, we loved the way you captured weddings. The smaller details, the intimacy, the emotion, and how you paired that so well with music.
The most important thing we want to capture is the whole range of emotions we felt on the day, which can only be expressed via moving image. This is what we want to be reminded of in years to come.
Tell me about the proposalÂ
Per-Christian and Jane were in Zermatt, Switzerland in April 2022, a place they frequently travel to each year. PC took Jane on a helicopter trip over the Swiss alps. They landed up on one of the mountain slopes, PC got down on one knee and popped the question.
After Jane said yes, the pilot came around with two glasses of champagne.
What do you guys do for a living? How do spend your free time?
Per-Christian is an Operations Manager for a chemical tanker company based in Hamburg, Germany. Jane works as a UX/UI designer for a tech start-up also based in Hamburg. We have two cats, we frequently travel to Switzerland, we love to cook, go to nice restaurants, visit friends, and keep healthy and active.
Why did you choose the wedding venue? What was special about it when you saw it for the first time?
We knew instinctively that our wedding had to be based in Cape Town, where we first met, but also most importantly in the winelands. We chose Babylonstoren because of its natural beauty, the Cape Dutch houses, the amazing food and the farm setting.
We love all the animals who inhabit the farm! I guess it was also based on a gut feeling – there is something very special and unique about the place. Plus, Jane was sold after being told that the ducks would guide us into the venue after the ceremony 🙂
Tell me about the vision you have for your wedding. What experience do you wish to give your guests?
We want our guests to have a unique, special and memorable experience. Our wedding will be bit unconventional – our ceremony will be non-religious and will feature a ‘trivia’ section, whereby the guests will be asked true or false questions regarding the couple, and the winners will win Swiss chocolate.
PC’s mother will walk him down the aisle, and Jane’s father will walk her down the aisle. Jane’s dress is also a bit untraditional (don’t tell PC ;-). The ducks will walk us into the pre-drinks area (this will be a surprise).
We want our guests to thoroughly enjoy the food and wine, as this is something very important to us. It will also be PC’s brother’s birthday on the day, so we have made the wedding cake a birthday cake instead (this is also a surprise).
Our first dance is something choreographed, and Jane will have an outfit change. Plus, the DJ will be accompanied by a saxophonist.
Where do you see yourselves in 10 years time?
We see ourselves living somewhere warm, with either animals or children around us, or both, living a good life with plenty of good food, wine and company.
