Why did you want your wedding captured on video?

It was important for us to capture our wedding and celebrations on video to have a visual to always look back on to remember our special day. Photos do an amazing job at capturing a moment in time, while a video captures the full experience and emotions along with it. We also wanted something that we can share with family and friends who were not able to be with us on our special day, and to show our kids and hopefully grandkids one day 🙂

Why did you pick me?

We chose to work with Gustav because we felt he was relatable during our initial phone call. We discussed our vision for our wedding film and Gustav was keen to take this on board and really work to our requests. We also liked that we could have a South African videographer to capture our day abroad. As expats, it is important to surround ourselves and work with people from South Africa as this adds an element of familiarity, comfort and home. It was an added bonus that Gustav was already going to be in Europe around the same time as our wedding so it felt serendipitous.

And you guys? What do you do? What’s most important in life?
Devon does SaaS sales currently in the UK and I, Nicole, run a digital PR and Marketing company promoting public and high growth companies, globally.

What we value most in life is true happiness, family, friends, and our ability to travel and experience new places and cultures.

Tell me about the proposal – I love hearing these stories
Devon proposed to me (Nicole) on a small motorboat that we rented for the day, in Kefalonia. Summer, Kefalonia, the ocean, the beach, are all very special elements to us so it was the most perfect proposal having all of these elements come together. Devon even managed to get the drone up in the air recording us when he went down on one knee so we have our proposal video to look back on forever. Around 20 minutes after the proposal, and this may sound unbelievable, two dolphins jumped out of the water. This added even more magic to an already magical day. We both love dolphins and this was just perfect! It was a very special day.

The venue – what made you settle on this place?
We knew we wanted to get married in Kefalonia as the island has always been very special to Devon. His grandfather came from Kefalonia, and Devon spent a year on the island after completing his Greek army service. After our first holiday there together, when Devon proposed, Kefalonia became equally special to me, and we just knew we wanted all of our friends and family to experience the beauty of the island for our wedding. The next “must” was that we wanted it near the ocean, or with an ocean view. We must admit that two of the venues we initially wanted unfortunately didn’t work out, but looking back, Tartarooga Beach Bar was the most perfect venue we could’ve dreamed of. It was on the beach, had beachy boho vibes, which is totally us, and allowed us to have a unique, beautiful, relaxed wedding where everyone could mingle and enjoy themselves and the surroundings.

What are your most memorable moments of the wedding?
It is hard to pick out our most memorable moments, as we loved all of it, but I think just having our family and friends fly in from around the world to be with us in Kefalonia just to celebrate our love was the most special feeling and experience we could’ve ever dreamed of.

What final thoughts would you like to share with your loved ones that joined you on this special day?

We are so grateful for everyone for making the journey to Kefalonia to be with us, celebrating our love in person. And we are so grateful to everyone who couldn’t be there for sharing their love and wishes with us from afar.
